The U.S. restaurant icon is heading overseas as part of an expansive Southeast Asian agreement.
Big Boy Restaurants, the franchisor of Big Boy throughout Michigan, Ohio, California, and North Dakota, has announced a partnership with Destination Eats that will see the American restaurant brand expand overseas throughout Thailand.
This is just the beginning when it comes to international growth, as the brand plans to subsequently develop Big Boy throughout the Southeast Asian region.
“This is a very exciting time for our brand as we take Big Boy from being an American icon to a global icon,” said Tamer Afr, CEO, Big Boy. “We are extremely excited about our development with a strong partner in both Destination Eats and Gary Murray. The current agreement, a minimum of 70 locations up to 1,000 locations, shows the strength of the iconic brand in the international realm and encompasses opportunities throughout South East Asia and the new ownership’s commitment to growth and reinvigorating the brand.”
Big Boy currently has one location open in Thailand, as a way to familiarize the local market with the brand’s offering and values. The Thai restaurant is currently offering delivery only.
