The ice cream specialist is growing its Australasian portfolio with the opening of a new fixed location.
Ben & Jerry’s ANZ has confirmed that it will soon open its first-ever Scoop Shop in Wellington, New Zealand. This new site will be the brand’s first permanent site Wellington, after the success of its pop-up store last year near Gate 20 in Wellington Airport.
The new store is planned to open by the end of November 2020, and will be situated on Wellington’s popular Cuba Street. The new store will be run by Nick and Mel Sunseri, who will be relocating from Frankton to Wellington to run the unit.
“We’re excited to cement and grow our network across New Zealand and this new store will be nestled amongst the many restaurants and bars along Cuba street in the CBD, as part of a newly developed heritage building,” said Bruce Lambert, business development manager for Ben & Jerry’s ANZ.
This new store will mark the 39th location in Australia and New Zealand for Ben & Jerry’s, and will be the brand’s seventh permanent location in the market. To date, the ice cream brand operates in 35 countries through a mixture of supermarket, grocery stores, convenience stores, and franchised Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop locations.
“It’s been a tough year for most businesses but it’s also been very positive to see continuous growth for the Ben & Jerry’s franchise network – especially in New Zealand,” said James Young, head of franchise sales and development at DC Strategy, an Australia-based consultancy. “It’s incredible to think that the new Wellington scoop shop marks the third franchisee to join the herd, over the last year.”
