America’s primary franchising authority congratulates the president-elect’s win.
The International Franchise Association (IFA), the primary franchise authority in the U.S., has released a statement on the news of president-elect Joe Biden’s victory. The news of Biden’s victory came on Saturday 7 November, after a week of tense vote-counting following a historic electoral race.
“IFA congratulates president-elect Biden on his victory, achieved through the democratic process of ensuring all votes are counted,” said Robert Cresanti, president and CEO of the IFA. “We look forward to working with the incoming Administration, particularly on our shared goals of increasing opportunity and equity in under-resourced communities.
“For more than 60 years, IFA has worked with federal, state, and local policymakers to ensure that franchises can grow their businesses, develop their workforces, and give back to their communities. As American small businesses navigate through uncertain times, that work is more important than ever.”
At the time of writing, Joe Biden has 279 electoral college votes, taking him past the 270 needed to win. Current president Donald Trump, meanwhile, has 214 votes. Therefore, Biden will become the 46th president in January 2021, pending the outcome of any legal challenges from the Trump Administration.
The IFA has tirelessly supported the franchise industry throughout this year’s pandemic, and despite criticisms in the U.S. about the government handling of the pandemic’s impact, Robert Cresanti remains supportive: “Despite all of the complaints and naysayers out there, I can’t say enough about the attention the government has paid to businesses and to small- and medium-sized enterprises,” he said during an episode of the Global Franchise Podcast.
