After a prolonged hiatus, the Tex-Mex concept is back.
Tijuana Flats has announced its first new franchise agreement in 13 years, following over a decade away from the business model. Awarded to Bob Amin in Panama City, Florida, the new location is currently in the planning stages and is set to open in 2021.
“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Amin. “I’ve had my eye on Tijuana Flats for a long time and I was so pleased to hear they were returning to franchising and chose me as their first franchisee.”
Amin has always been attracted to the be-your-own-boss lifestyle of franchising, having previously purchased locations with brands such as Marco’s Pizza and Checkers. Now, he’s looking forward to introducing the established Tex-Mex restaurant brand to the Panama City area.
“The area is full of traditional concepts,” said Amin. “Tijuana Flats is unique and will really stand out. The food is just phenomenal.”
Founded over 25 years ago, Tijuana Flats currently operates throughout Florida, North Carolina, Indiana, and Virginia, and is now targeting the eastern part of the U.S., as well as Texas.
“Bob Amin has a lot of experience, and that is exactly what we are looking for as we begin our expansion,” said Eric Taylor, Tijuana Flats VP, development. “He’s a great fit for our brand, and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do with the new panhandle location.”
