While everyone has their own definition of an ‘emerging franchisor’, for the Global Franchise Awards, this is a franchise that was formed in or after 2016 and has expanded beyond its native country. The leader of the poke bowl in France, Pokawa, has absolutely fascinated the judges, winning the Best Emerging Franchise category.
Founded in 2017 by Maxime Buhler and Samuel Carré, the brand has over 100 units, 70+ of which are franchises. The innovative concept allows customers to choose the ingredients that make up their poké given their tastes, hunger and diet.
Being a strong digital brand, Pokawa also maintains a close relationship with its community through platforms such as Tiktok and Instagram.
A proud achievement
Talking about the win, Pokawa shared: “We are very honored to receive the Emerging Franchise Award. We would like to thank the Global Franchise Awards for choosing Pokawa as the winner of this category. We are very pleased to receive this award. This recognition is a true reflection of the work our team has put into our project over the past five years. This award represents an important step in our international expansion.
“Today Pokawa has more than 110 locations in six countries and employs 850 people. By 2022, we have managed to reach a turnover of €80,000,000. Our next challenge will be to increase our global expansion into new markets, establishing ourselves as a leader in healthy food. This award will help us to strengthen our global development in new countries through our master franchisees partners.”
