Blaze Pizza, a fast-casual pizza concept, has announced the promotion of Ed Yancey to the role of chief development officer. Joining in 2020, Yancey previously held the role of vice president of franchising and has been central to development efforts in that time. With his new promotion, he will be responsible for franchise growth, real estate development in target markets and franchisee recruitment.
“Over the past two years, Blaze has experienced a surge in franchise development, and Ed has been a driving force behind the strategies that have boosted this ongoing success. We’re very pleased to announce this well-deserved promotion, and have no doubt that in his new role, Ed will continue leveraging his tremendous experience and industry knowledge to take Blaze to new heights,” said Mandy Shaw, CEO and president of Blaze Pizza.
Yancey has worked in the foodservice industry for over 25 years, filling leadership roles and working for national brands such as Jersey Mike’s, B. Good and Dunkin’ Brands. In his time at Blaze Pizza, he has led the development and opening of 14 units in the key markets of Texas, Florida, Nevada, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, which resulted in an 18 per cent increase in same-store sales by year-end. In addition to the 34 locations in the pipeline, Yancey and his team continue to push for growth in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, Virginia, and key regions throughout the Northeast.
“My time at Blaze has been nothing short of amazing. In just a couple of years, we have expanded the company’s footprint into new states and markets, including our first-ever Alaska locations,” said Yancey.
“Blaze is a brand that easily appeals to the masses and continues to deliver on its promise of quality food and evolving innovation. With this promotion, I aspire to continue growing this trailblazing concept, while reinforcing good communication and supportive relationships with our franchise owners.”
