The major players from Australia’s franchise industry will descend on Sydney in March for the Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo

Held in cities around Australia each year since 1987, the vibrant Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo brings together franchisees, franchisors and industry players in a forum like no other.
The Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo is independent and renowned for giving consumers the chance to learn more about small business options, speak with a range of operators and meet representatives from government agencies.
Franchising is one of the fastest-growing industries in Australia, representing four per cent of the economy. There are over 1,100 different franchise systems employing over half a million people, in a population of just 25 million.
The great majority (86 per cent) of franchise systems operating in Australia are home-grown, and increasing numbers of Australian franchise systems are taking their systems overseas. For example, Poolwerx, a highly successful franchise founded by John O’Brien in 1992, is now the fastest-growing pool and hot tub spa after-market business in the United States.
Over the past three decades, the Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo has seen many franchising brands launch and gain a firm foothold in the Australian market, from international brands such as Subway, Miniso, Minuteman Press, and Signarama, to local success stories Jim’s Group, Aussie mortgage brokers, Soul Origin and VIP Home Services.

In 2020 the expo will be held in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne, featuring local and international franchise systems as well as a vibrant seminar program, and new features including ‘Be Your Own Boss’ workshops and a Franchisee Success Summit.
The Australian market is of great interest to international companies seeking to broaden their reach and exhibition manager, Fiona Stacey, says she is expecting exhibitor delegations from the U.S.A. and Taiwan to the Franchising & Business Opportunities later in the year.
“It is always interesting to see franchise concepts that are new to Australia but well known in other parts of the world,” she says. “The diversity of franchises and price entry points are huge drawcards for visitors to the Franchising Expo. Some visitors come with specific businesses in mind, while others are open to new ideas, in industries they had never previously considered.
“We also attract entrepreneurs wishing to grow their business through the franchising model. They come because the Franchising Expo is the country’s leading event to find information and inspiration to start, build or grow your own business.”
