German Doner Kebab (GDK) is looking forward to the opening of its 100th unit in the U.K. this week. The new location will open tomorrow on 10 May at Covent Garden on St. Martins Lane, London, in the heart of the bustling Theatre District. The brand celebrated over the weekend with significant launch activity to mark the milestone.
The kebab brand has prided itself on elevating one of Britain’s most-loved takeaway options into something more sophisticated. In GDK restaurants, customers can watch their kebab being made in front of them with the freshest and healthiest ingredients available.
GDK has strong ambitions for the U.K. market, and aims to open another 78 restaurants across the country after opening 39 in 2021. The brand employs over 3,500 people and has a development pipeline of over 350 units over the next seven years. Sales are up too, with GDK registering a 75 per cent rise in total sales in 2021 over the previous year.
“Opening our 100th U.K. restaurant is a landmark moment in the German Doner Kebab story but we are not stopping there,” said Imran Sayeed, CEO of German Doner Kebab.
