Tussing already has experience working with the brand, having spearheaded Marco’s Pizza’s first national advertising campaign.

Marco’s Pizza has appointed Chris Tussing as vice president, chief marketing officer. This appointment is effective from September 29.

In this new role, Tussing will be responsible for advertising, brand identity, media, customer relationship management (CRM), social media, web/app experience, promotions, multicultural marketing, field/regional marketing, and grand opening marketing.

He joins Marco’s from the full-service marketing agency MERGE, where he was both president of the organization’s Chicago office, and chief marketing officer for the entire agency. In addition, back in July 2017, Tussing worked with Marco’s on its integrated communications across the entire U.S. network.

“Chris’s leadership and strategy helped catapult the Marco’s brand into the national spotlight,” said CEO Jack Butorac. “He’s been a great advisor to me and the Marco’s executive team as we evolve, expand and grow as a brand.”

“I’m honored to join the Marco’s Pizza brand with its rich 40-year heritage of delighting people with an outstanding product, commitment to quality, and a culture that puts people and communities first,” said Tussing. “It’s exactly what we need to connect to the hearts and minds of all pizza-loving Americans as we continue to expand our national presence and footprint.”

Tussing’s impressive 25-year career has seen him work with multiple Fortune 500 brands to boost their marketing potential, including the likes of Wrigley, Mars, Kraft, Clorox, and Northwestern Mutual. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Southern California.

“Chris is a passionate, agile, and insightful brand leader,” said chief experience officer Steve Seyferth. “As a key player within the Marco’s marketing team, Chris has provided vision, courage, and unbridled enthusiasm in helping drive results and new levels of customer engagement and relevancy to our brand.”

Marco’s currently opens a new store every three and a half days on average, and with the expertise provided by Chris Tussing, the brand projects it will have 1,000 locations operating by the end of 2020. Currently, Marco’s Pizza has 975 stores open in over 34 states, as well as locations in the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
