A titan of the education franchising scene, Mathnasium is a recognizable, worldwide name. Just before the end of the year, the tutoring specialist has reached a new milestone in its home market.
Mathnasium has maintained consistent growth in the U.S. and Canada, and has now surpassed 1,000 centers in North America. This milestone occurred after the brand passed 1,000 centers globally back in March.
Launching in 2002, Mathnasium is committed to helping its students achieve the best they can. In the U.S., the brand’s goal is to help the 50 million elementary and secondary school students who score below “proficient” in math every year. With this rapidly expanding national presence, it’s certainly an achievable goal.
“When we first started the company, we envisioned this day,” said Peter Markovitz, CEO. “We made a conscious decision to be careful and deliberate with our expansion. The importance of what we do – we change kids’ lives – requires the careful selection of entrepreneurs and educators to run our franchise locations. This helps us ensure that the centers we open are successful, so they can serve their communities for years to come.”
Despite its namesake, Mathnasium offers much more than just math education. The brand has a specialist curriculum that can cover up to 20 subjects, depending on the location, and spans 12 different levels to engage students of all abilities.
And, as mentioned above, Mathnasium has expanded far beyond the U.S. Its specialized education centers can be found in the U.K., Vietnam, the UAE, Australia, Myanmar, India, and Egypt – with even more countries to come, through international master franchising opportunities.
