Phenix Salon Suites has announced the signing of a multi-unit franchise agreement to open five new locations across Chicago. The salon suite brand signed with John Kunka, an esteemed entrepreneur. This marks the brand’s second five-unit agreement in Chicago this year.
Kunka is aiming to develop his locations across the Southwest or Western suburbs of Chicago, and hopes to open his first location in early 2023. He has over 25 years of investment management experience and spent the past seven years as treasurer and chief financial officer of an investment advisor in Chicago.
“I have wanted to own my own business for a while now, and Phenix caught my eye as it’s the perfect brand for investors looking to get started on their entrepreneurial journey,” said Kunka.
“After more than two decades in the investment management industry, I know a strong business model when I see one, and upon speaking with the Phenix corporate team and researching the potential returns, I was eager to join the Phenix family. Not only does Phenix allow me to fulfill my dream of business ownership, it allows lifestyle professionals working out of the locations to do the same. I’m looking forward to my journey with Phenix and to bringing these five locations to the Chicago area.”
The brand is pushing ahead with its domestic and international expansion plans, and recently announced its intentions to expand into Australia and New Zealand. Phenix expects to sign another 40 franchise agreement before the end of the year.
“Our growth in Chicago is just beginning and it is amazing to see another multi-unit agreement be signed in the city so early on in the year,” said Gina Rivera, founder of Phenix Salon Suites.
“John is exactly the kind of franchisee we look for at Phenix, as he clearly understands the goal of ownership with Phenix—for lifestyle professionals to grow their businesses alongside our franchisees. I’m looking forward to John, and all of our multi-unit operators, experiencing the full potential of the Phenix model and the benefits of its scalability.”
