QDOBA, one of the fastest-growing fast-casual franchises in the Mexican segment, has announced the signing of a five-unit agreement in Greater Ontario. The new units will be located in Ontario, Ottawa, Cornwall, Cobourg and Kingston, with the first set to open in Q4 of 2022.
The expansion will be headed up by Harsh Modh, who will bring the locations to Canada and operate them. Modh was previously a partner at a retail pharmacy chain, and his work led him to him becoming a part-owner of the business. Modh has also gained significant knowledge in international manufacturing and global exports, two areas that are sure to come in useful in the near future.
“After traveling around the country and getting a chance to finally try QDOBA, I was hooked. I am a huge fan of Mexican food so once I learned that I could bring the brand to Ontario I was quick to act,” said Modh.
“The wide range of tasty offerings will make for a great addition to the community, and I am excited to strengthen the brand’s presence in Canada.”
The brand’s franchise opportunities are flexible and allow for a number of different footprints to work in both traditional and non-traditional locations.
“Growing our presence in Canada is important for QDOBA,” said Shawn Caric, vice president of franchise development at QDOBA.
“Residents throughout the country have already proven how much they love our food — we are very excited to be working with Harsh to spread our great flavors into Ontario.”
It’s been a strong year for QDOBA, with numerous promotions and agreements signed to expand into states such as Indiana, Nebraska, Maryland and Texas. QDOBA also celebrated the opening of its 400th location this year.
