Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken has signed a franchise deal to bring the award-winning biscuit brand to San Diego. The agreement marks the brand’s first San Diego franchise deal and comes just months after Rise opened its first California location in the fourth quarter of 2022.
At the helm of the deal is San Diego franchisee Jason Kasid, who has spent more than 25 years operating a family business in the convenience store industry and was drawn to Rise because of its tech-enabled and simple operations. Jason plans to open at least five Rise locations, with potential sites in Downtown San Diego, Mission Valley, Pacific Beach and the SDSU College area.
Jason says: “Rise has developed an operating model that allows entrepreneurs like me the opportunity to own an easy-to-operate business with the full training, marketing and operational support from the corporate team. I’m excited to bring the nation’s most in-demand chicken and biscuit concept to the San Diego market.”
Rise serves up unique chicken sandwiches, biscuit, and donut offerings in an efficient, small-footprint store. The company’s innovative concept and expansive growth earned the brand recognition in Food & Wine’s ‘Best Biscuits in the U.S.’
Ken Priest, CEO of Rise, says: “We’re so excited to welcome Jason to the Rise family and partner with him to grow our tech-enabled concept rooted in Southern food, hospitality and culture in a market like San Diego, where we know it will thrive.
“Jason knows how to run a successful business and is the ideal franchisee to make Rise a SoCal success story.”
Today, Rise has 17 restaurant locations in seven states and more than 100 units in development in major markets from coast to coast. The fast casual chain continues to attract seasoned and talented new franchisees to help fuel the brand’s national expansion.
