The Romanian Franchise Association is the eighth national franchise association to join the World Franchise Network.
Global Franchise is excited to announce that it is expanding its content partnership alliance – with the addition of the Romanian Franchise Association, also known as the National Franchise Registrar, joining other organizations and associations to share franchise knowledge, research and best practice.
Kieran McLoone, editor of Global Franchise, said: “As we continue to build the World Franchise Network with leading franchise authorities around the world, it’s a genuine pleasure to welcome Ariana Cosmina and the Romanian Franchise Association into the fold. We’re very excited to work closely with Ariana to inform our audience about the opportunities available in Romania, and spread the good word of franchising worldwide.”
The Romanian Franchise Association was formed in 2006 in Bucharest, with the mission to champion credible franchising in the region and to point would-be franchisees to franchisors that operate in a sustainable and ethical fashion.
Through an industry publication, events, workshops, galas, and seminars, the Romanian Franchise Association is the leading franchise industry representative in Romania, and works tirelessly to ensure companies meet its strict franchise criteria to ensure that franchisors adhere to high business standards.
Today, around 400 business concepts make up the current Romanian franchise market – worth around €3bn – with around 60 per cent of franchises being international brands.
Ariana Cosmina, the director of the Romanian Franchise Association, said: “Romania is one of the few countries from the EU that has had a franchise law for the past two decades. In 2019 the law was amended by Law 179/2019 and its provisions regulate the franchise environment. The current legislation from the field is more helpful for both franchisors and franchisees – it stipulates better the obligations of franchisors towards their franchise system members and encourages ethical franchising. Also, the law describes in better manner the disclosure document. Besides those mentioned above the National Franchise Registrar is a new body and each franchisor should enroll data about their concept.
“Our non-profit is not just a ‘keeper’ for the registrar but also tries to support the domain as much as possible through tools such as our own franchise portal, consultancy for those willing to expand by exporting their brands, and teaching franchise courses for managers. Also, via a partnership, we concluded we are offering consultancy services for franchisors eligible for grants.
“Since 2015 we became a public utility association and I think we are the only one in Europe – it is a recognition of past efforts and assimilates us with a public institution.”
The World Franchise Network was created in 2020 to gather franchise associations and bodies all under one roof with the intention to encourage and foster greater connectivity between franchising nations.
As part of the partnership, Global Franchise works closely with recognized associations when covering their respective territories, sharing crucial intel and insight to ensure readers are clued up with up-to-date industry stats, regulatory updates and more.
