The better-chicken franchise has signed a multi-unit agreement with Iowan restaurant operators.
Slim Chickens has announced the signing of a multi-unit agreement to open nine new Slim Chickens locations across Iowa. Experienced restaurateurs Jeff and Leanne Brands plan to bring the franchise to areas such as Des Moines, Iowa City and Waterloo-Cedar Falls.
“While having great food is important, and Slim Chicken’s food is delicious, I was really impressed with the brand’s processes and systems from an operations standpoint,” said Jeff Brands.
“The leadership team running Slim Chicken’s was also a deciding factor. They know what they are doing, and their passion for the brand, food, fans and franchisees is evident. We’re ready to expand our portfolio and join the chicken category.”
The Brands’ experience in the industry comes from the 20 Taco Bell locations the couple own and operate throughout Central Iowa with long-term business partners Bill and Lynne Byrne. Their daughters are also in the family business, assisting in financing to marketing.
“Jeff and Leanne are the type of franchise partners that we hope to grow with, and with their experience, we have no doubt that their central Iowa locations will become local favorites,” said Jackie Lobdell, vice president of franchise development at Slim Chickens.
“We’re excited to have the brand break into Iowa and know that Jeff and Leanne are the right partners to lead the development.”
This marks a very active year for the brand, signing deals to expand into Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky as well as opening two brand new locations in the U.K.
